I’m a proud Filipino, AND an even prouder Mindanaoan. The bad taste that the recent Maguindanao tragedy left in our mouths won’t go away soon, some much longer than others. We’ve lost hundreds or even thousands to senseless events that dull our joy, erase our smiles, and break our hearts. But it’s these happenings that allow us the opportunity to shine bright, to be heroes and heroines, to show unmatched acts of kindness, compassion, and ultimately LOVE. AS the New People, Born-Again, Catholic, Islam, whatever, as NEW PEOPLE it is our responsibility to paint the lighter shades of tomorrow, to breed hope, and most importantly of all: to continue living. We CAN change the world, WE CAN MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE. Prayer, faith, and unity will be our peaceful weapon against the bullets, bombs, and bastards.
